Now that you’re 65 and enrolled in Original Medicare, you may want to know what your senior healthcare options are. First and foremost: Medicare is not just for Seniors. Those under 65 with certain disabilities or end stage renal can qualify for Medicare and additional insurance.
Medicare Senior Health Options
Here is a list of the following healthcare insurance plan options you have once you are a senior and qualify for Medicare:
1) Do nothing else. You can just stick with Original Medicare and receive the fed’s coverage.
2) Choose Medicare Advantage (MA). MA plans replace Medicare by creating a smaller network in exchange for extra benefits such as dental, vision, and Rx coverage. Many times MA premiums are less expensive than a Medicare premium
3) Choose Medigap. Medigap plans supplement Medicare, therefore you will still have Medicare’s network of doctors and hospitals, and an additional 365 hospitalization days, as well as Medigap covers costs such as Part A and B deductibles. Medigap premiums are generally more expensive than an MA plan
