If you’re new to Medigap or have been enrolled for years, you may wonder if and how chiropractic services are covered by Medigap. Remember that Medigap only covers what Medicare approves, so the good news is chiropractic is covered, but the bad news is Medicare’s chiropractic coverage is pretty limited.
Medicare’s Chiropractic Coverage
Currently, Original Medicare’s chiropractic coverage is limited to manipulation of the spine for a subluxation. The good news is there is Part B does not put a cap on how many visits you can receive for this specific health service. It’s important to note that Medicare will not cover x-rays, other adjustments, or additional treatments at your chiropractor’s office. You may want to receive your X-rays and other treatments at your physical therapist’s office as this would be covered by Medicare and Medigap. Learn more Medicare’s physical therapy coverage.
Medigap’s Chiropractic Coverage
With a Medigap plan, your chiropractic office visit for a subluxation will be covered in the following way: the majority of Medigap plans will cover all of your Part B copays or coinsurance*; however, only Medigap Plan C and F will cover your Part B deductible, and only Plans F and G will your Part B excess charges.
