Congress has the authority to increase the Medicare Part B premium and deductible.  This typically doesn’t happen every year but it is something you should be aware of.

What is the Part B Premium?

Part B premiums are based on your income.  Here are the current rates:

  • If you are currently enrolled in Part B and pay through Social Security, the lowest premium would be: $185*
  • If you do not pay through Social Security and/or if you are new to Part B your premium could be: $185*

*Your premium could be higher if you make more money.

What is the Part B Deductible?

The Part B deductible is $257.

The Part B deductible may not affect those who are enrolled in certain Medicare Advantage plans or for Medigap plans C and F (these plans cover your Part B deductible).
