Once you’re Medicare-eligible you may choose to enroll in a prescription drug plan. Let us explain how you get Medicare drug coverage.
Ways to Get Medicare Drug Coverage
If you are enrolled or will enroll in Medicare Part A and Part B you have the option of enrolling in a drug plan. There are two ways to get this type of coverage:
- Medicare Advantage with drug coverage
- Stand-alone prescription drug plan
How to Choose a Drug Plan
After you decide if you want a Medicare Advantage bundled or stand-alone drug plan with Original Medicare and Medigap or Medicare Advantage (some MA plans don’t bundle drug coverage) you’ll want to do the following to decide which is the right one for you:
- 1) Run your current prescription drug names through the plan’s drug finder
- 2) Compare generic and brand name costs
- 3) Compare monthly premium costs
- 4) Compare drug deductibles
