Aetna Approval and Application Fees
If you are applying during your Medicare initial enrollment period your plan will automatically be approved. Plans always begin on the first of the month. So, for example, you could apply in Mid March and your plan could start as early as April 1st. If you applied on the last day of March your plan could still start on April 1st.
In some areas Aetna charges an application fee. It is usually a one-time $20 fee and you will not be charged if your application is not approved.
Aetna Medigap Discounts
If two people from your household have an Aetna Medigap plan, you can each qualify for a discount. This is called a household discount. This amount varies but is usually around 5% each! If your spouse already has Aetna and you join at a later time, you will still both get the discount moving forward. We can help make sure that your application is tied to your spouses plan so you both can get the discount.
Most people pay by auto-debit from their checking or savings account. If you want to receive a paper invoice, you will have to pay quarterly, semi-annually or annually in advance. Their may be a discount for paying in advance.
